About North Central Ballet
The North Central Ballet is North East Tarrant County’s only pre-professional ballet studio.
Founded in 1993 by Leslie M. Jordan III, the ballet studio and North Central Ballet Company enrich the environment of our community through education, performance and dance related activities. North Central Ballet provides a training for the beginning dancer as well as the serious dancers who wish to develop a stage presence while advancing their education. Dancers in the area who are proficient in classical ballet and pointe work are eligible to audition for the company. In all things we strive to instill the desire for excellence in art, cooperation among young people and a sense of pride in our community.
The North Central Ballet is committed to providing the finest dance lessons available in the Northeast Tarrant County Area. Students from the North Central Ballet have been awarded scholarships to study with major professional ballet company schools throughout the United States including:
- School of American Ballet (New York),
- Joffrey Ballet (New York)
- North Carolina School of the Arts,
- Boston Ballet,
- Hartford Ballet,
- Exploring Ballet with Suzanne Farrell,
- Kennedy Center,
- Ballet Austin and
- Colorado Ballet
as well as major university dance departments. In addition, several of our former students are now performing with professional dance companies around the world. Professional ballet instruction is the basis of our student’s success.
Many of North Central Ballet’s current students were accepted into summer intensive programs for summer 2012 including:
- Joffrey Ballet New York, Los Angeles and Miami,
- Orlando Ballet,
- Kansas City Ballet,
- American Ballet Theater and
- the Long Beach Ballet’s Ambasadors to China.
Former students have also been accepted to American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Scholar Program as well as represented the school as a finalist for the National
Foundation for Advancement in the Arts Presidential Scholar program. Former
students have represented the United States of America at the 2002 International
Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi.
All dancers are invited to participate in our annual production of The Nutcracker and a full-length ballet in June. We do not present "recitals", as do many "studios". Students in the ballet school have the advantage of participating in a full-length classical ballet with historically correct choreography. This allows our students to be exposed to the classics as well as performing alongside high level dancers. North Central Ballet offers classes for ages 2 – adult, beginner thru professional in both its Keller and Bedford locations. In addition to ballet, students may take advantage of modern, jazz, acting and musical theater classes at our Keller location.
